Hunting the Northern Lights by Bus – Kirkenes

Experience the magic of the Arctic night on this guided Northern Lights hunt from Kirkenes. Your evening begins with pickup from your hotel, either Scandic or Thon, at 21:00. After a short drive to the Snowhotel, the group will set off in search of clear skies and the dancing Aurora Borealis.

Depending on the weather, your guide will take you east towards the Russian border, west towards Finland, or south into the Pasvik Valley. The route changes nightly to increase your chances of witnessing the lights in their full beauty. Along the way, you’ll learn about the region’s culture, nature, and the science behind this remarkable phenomenon.

When the bus stops to check the sky, enjoy hot juice and biscuits under the stars. Your guide may also take photos of the Aurora and share them with you afterwards. Even on nights when the Northern Lights remain hidden, the Arctic scenery and peaceful atmosphere make this a memorable experience.
