Experience a full-day dog sledding adventure outside Tromsø with included transport, hot meal, and the chance to drive your own sled through snowy Arctic terrain.
This daytime dog sledding adventure begins in Tromsø, where you’ll board a bus for a scenic 95-minute journey through fjords and snowy landscapes to the remote Tamokhuset wilderness base.
Upon arrival, participants are split into two groups. While one group prepares for sledding with thermal gear and a safety briefing before heading out with the huskies, the other group relaxes at the camp. They’ll meet the dogs, enjoy a warm meal and hot drink, and learn about the huskies’ life and care.
The dog sledding itself is shared in pairs. Each guest takes turns being the musher—steering the sled—and a seated passenger, with the opportunity to switch halfway through the route. The terrain is relatively flat, making it suitable for those with basic physical fitness.
After both groups have taken their turn dog sledding and enjoyed their time at the camp, you’ll return to Tromsø by bus, with time to reflect on your day in Arctic nature.
Tour duration is 7 hours (09:30–16:30), with a meeting point at Tromsø Havn Prostneset at 09:15. Minimum age is 7 years. Good physical condition is required for those wishing to drive the sled. Pregnant guests cannot join this tour. Dietary needs should be shared in advance by email.
